Update: Vita Error C2-12383-7

Hello All,

Update
I finally got an email from Sony. Took a bit longer than the 7 business days but I have my money back so I am not too upset. Now I just need to try purchasing the game and installing again. I'll let you guys know if I run into the same error again.

Snippet from Email

Original

C2-12383-7
Many Vita owners have been plagued by the C2-12383-7 error code when attempting to install certain Vita games. I myself have not been able to install Super Stardust Delta. After yesterday's Playstation Network update with no resolution I decided to call customer service to get this resolved. You can find your customer service number in the Playstation Store along the very bottom in the about us tab.

Within a quick 15 minute phone call, with a very nice lady, I learned a few things. First of all, Sony does not even have the error code listed in their system. It seems a little odd that one of the biggest errors preventing hundreds of people from installing their games isn't even listed in their database. Secondly, they're willing to give you a complete refund for your purchase in a matter of minutes. I will be receiving an email within a seven business days with a full refund for the $15 purchase. The woman seemed to believe if I repurchased the items I will be fine.

I'll let you all know if I can install the game next week.

Cheers,
Jon

How-To Videos are Live, Requests Next Week

Hello All,

I just pushed my How-To videos on creating custom backgrounds and custom covers for PDP's Crystal Case for the Playstation Vita onto Youtube. These are just basic tutorials and I am willing to go more in depth if people are interested in learning. I wanted to apologize for the lack of request fulfillment over the past few days. I will not be able to create too many over the next week, but the week after I will do my best at creating every single request. My goal is to have them all finished and uploaded by the 10th. Please be patient as it takes about an hour to create a good cover/background combo and I have sticky-notes all over my desk of individual requests.

Stay tuned for your requests!

Crystal Case Review, Everything Vita: Updates and Errors

Hello All,

PDP's Crystal Case Review:
Now that I have my hands on the Playstation Vita I can give a full review of PDP's Crystal Case.

If you've watched my other videos you know that one of the biggest faults of the case is that it will pop open if dropped onto the upper hinge. Many people were scared off from buying the case, and I don't blame them; cases are supposed to protect your expensive pieces of technology. However, with a Playstation Vita inside, the case becomes a solid vault that does not open when force is applied to the hinge. I would say that you have a better chance of dropping the case and breaking it than the case popping open. To hear my full review watch the video below.

Good:
  • Customization options
  • Grips memory cards and games tightly
  • Extremely sturdy with Vita inside
  • 2 year warranty
Bad:
  • Case will pop open without the Vita inside
  • Customization out of box is lacking (but thats why I'm here!)
Overall: 80/100

Everything Vita: Updates and Error Code C2-12383-7:
The video covers how to update and install games on your Playstation Vita and the error code C2-12383-7. As of right now there is no fix for the error code so you will have to be patient for Sony to come out with a fix.

Jon

Medal of Honor: Warfighter:
The sequel to 2010's franchise reboot of Medal of Honor was officially announced yesterday. Many assumed the game would soon be announced as it was teased with a pamphlet within Battlefield 3's case. Danger Close will be once again developing the game but it is unknown if DICE will be assisting with multiplayer again.

Twas the Night Before Vita, Special look into Current Project

Hello All,

Just a little something funny to get you through that final night.

If you read it you'll also find out what I am currently working on for release this Thursday.

--------

Twas the Night Before Vita

Twas the night before Vita, when all through the house
My computer was whirring, at the click of my mouse.
My case was laid on my desk, handled with care,
In hopes that my Vita, would soon be there.

Custom covers were printed and snug in their case,
Custom backgrounds downloaded would soon have their place.
Photoshop closed as I cracked my back,
I finally settled for my Pre-Vita nap.

When out from my speakers arose such a clatter,
I lurched forward to see what was the matter.
Wake up Windows, wake up Mac,
We still have work to do, we cannot slack.

The Vita launches tomorrow, so much more to do,
I must continue work on my projects, for all of you.
Youtube is filled with amateur content you see,
and if you couldn't tell that just isn't me!

I have the tools, and the abilities too,
I'll put them to work, you'll see what I can do.
Tomorrow will start my special Vita video content,
I'll heavily rely on my viewers comment.

Now After Affects! Now Photoshop! and all Adobe Suites!
Now Final Cut! Now Motion! Make it complete!
Full 1080p! And graphics galore!
In all hopes that you all come back for more!

You see, I love what I do, and I hope you do too.
I want to provide something unique, something people seek.
I hope you all find a reason to come back,
Because I enjoy doing this, even though it may sound whack.

As I slid my Astros back over my ears with care,
I cracked my knuckles and began the computer stare.
I let out an exhale, I would soon have the beast.
Happy Vita-day to all, besides those in the far east.

--------

Lucky people in Japan having their Vitas since December!

Have fun guys, you deserve it.

Cheers,
Jon

Custom Cover Troubleshooting

Hello All,

There have been a few rare cases in which people have not been able to print the custom covers at the right dimensions. I would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and have created a short list of troubleshooting tips listed below. I recommend printing a test copy at draft quality to test it before printing and wasting ink or photo paper.

Troubleshooting:

I recommend printing directly from Google Chrome as there have been no reported problems.

This step should work for everyone regardless of operating system or browser.

  • First you should open the small preview image into the full blogger photo viewer.
Open in full screen Blogger Photo Viewer
  • Next right click the image and open it in a new tab or window.
  • Next right click the new image in the separate tab and save it to your desktop.
  • Next open the image in your photo-viewing application.
  • Next choose File -> Print within the application.
  • Set the paper size to US Letter and scale to 35%.

  • Click print and you should be all set!

Other Options:
These options may or may not work. These were specific instances with different users that may have been caused be personal settings or printer settings.
  • Safari: Enlarge photo, right click + open in new tab/window, File -> print.
    • Printer settings: US Letter, Portrait, 78% scale.
  • Firefox: Enlarge photo, right click + open in new tab/window, File -> print.
    • Printer settings: US Letter, Portrait, 70% scale.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience these troubles may have caused. I hope these troubleshootings tips solve your problems if you are having any. Thank you all for your support.

Cheers,
Jon

I will be dialing down from creating custom covers and backgrounds for the time being. A few may pop up here and there but not at the rate they were coming out beforehand. Instead, I will be investing my time into creating some special content for the blog and youtube that isn't seen in your average video. Please check back Wednesday afternoon for my quick Playstation Vita unboxing and first impressions and again on Thursday for the special Vita content. I believe it will be well worth your time.

New Blog Section, First Round of Requests Complete

Hello All,

Due to a drastic increase of site traffic over the last two days I have decided to split the Custom Crystal Case Covers and Custom Vita Backgrounds into two separate tabs in the top navigation bar. This once again should keep the site clean and organized. Throughout the day I will be uploading the first round of requests for custom cases and backgrounds. Please be sure to check back regularly to download your custom images in their respective site sections. I am still willing to take in any request so let me know what you're interested in seeing in the respective comment sections.

Custom Vita Backgrounds, Video Blog #3

Hello All,

First off I just wanted to show off my Crystal Case with new custom covers printed on photo-paper. They look as good as the packed in covers that came with the case!

Second, I am happy to announce that my first batch of Vita backgrounds are live in the "Customize your Playstation Vita" section. Scroll down past the covers to reach the background section. If you have a request just let me know in the comment section on that page!

Example Background with Icon Positions

Finally, I have been receiving many questions on whether the rumor is true that the Crystal Case pops open when dropped on the hinge. Today's video blog will look into the problem and discuss potential solutions.

I still love the case and have no worries about the design fault. The case has to land perfectly on the top half of the hinge to pop open.

Cheers,
Jon

New Blog Section, Gears of War 3 Maps, Unit 13 Demo, and Mass Effect 3 in Space?

Hello All,

New Blog Section
A quick thank you to reader Leo for suggesting a new blog section for the custom covers I designed for PDP's Crystal Case and my upcoming Vita backgrounds. This new section should help the main page stay clean while providing a home base for all of my custom Vita content. As previously stated, I am willing to create custom backgrounds or case covers. Simply comment on the new "Customize your Playstation Vita" tab with your request and I'll see what I can do! I can also create non-video game related themes but you will have to link me to your personal pictures. If demand continues to increase for personal images I'll work on making it a bit easier to get your images to me directly and privately. Please note that the images I used in the creation of each case are very large. The final product comes to 2325x1125 pixels; keep this in mind with your requests.

Thank you for your interest and support of the covers and be sure to check back often and link to me when appropriate.

New Gears of War 3 Maps
On March 27th, Gears of War 3 Season Pass owners will be receiving their final piece of DLC, the Forces of Nature Map Pack. For non-season pass owners it will cost you 800 Microsoft Points or $10. The map pack contains three new maps, Artillery, Cove, and Aftermath, along with Raven Down from the original Gears of War and Jacinto from Gears 2. In addition to the multiplayer maps, Horde mode will also see the addition of the flaming cleaver along with the electrified cleaver. As for character skins, this map pack will contain the previously pre-order exclusive Commando Dom, Mechanic Baird, and Savage Hunter.

Jacinto is back in Gears of War 3

It is sad to see the Gears of War 3 Season Pass already coming to an end but there has been plenty of content to make the $30 worthwhile. I only hope that in the future some of my favorite maps from Gears 1 and 2 can make it into the third as free DLC.

Upcoming Unit 13 Demo
This upcoming Tuesday a demo for Unit 13 will be making its way onto the Playstation Store. The demo is set to contain access to one Direct Action mission that will be playable with all six operatives. One of the nicest parts of this demo is that it will support online leaderboards and all of your scores and level progression will carry over to the full game.

Unit 13 Demo coming this Tueday
Be sure to look for my impressions of the demo next week.

Mass Effect 3 in Space?
In a very unique publicity stunt, EA will be launching six copies of Mass Effect 3 into space! Fans will be able to track the games on Mass Effects Website via an onboard GPS. Being the first person to find the game when it lands will snag you a copy of the game a solid week before the rest of the world.

Happy Hunting!

Cheers,
Jon

Steam and Vita PSA, Video Blog #2

Hello All,

Small PSA for all you Steam gamers:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3's online multiplayer will be free to play this weekend only on Steam. For those of you unfamiliar with these promotions, every steam account will have MW3 in their library. Simply install the game and you will be good to go! The multiplayer will be active for 2 days and then deactivate until you either uninstall the game or purchase the game in its entirety. Enjoy your free time in MW3!

Small PSA for those planning on purchasing a Vita:

  • Target will be having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on all Vita games starting the 19th and continuing until the 25th. (I would call your store if you plan on heading out before the Vita launch. It has been reported that some stores are waiting until the 22nd)
  • Free 4GB Memory Card with purchase of a Wifi Vita (while supplies lasts)
  • For $284.99 at Target get a wifi Vita, starter kit bundle, and a $20 gift card

And so we get to my second video blog covering the custom covers I created for the PDP Crystal Custom Case, the free crossplay content for the Vita and PS3, screen protectors, and the aforementioned MW3 free multiplayer weekend. Feel free to watch and like it, subscribe, comment, and come back for more!

Custom Covers for PDP's Crystal Case

Hello All,

In my Playstation Vita Accessory video I mentioned creating custom covers for the crystal case. Each cover is specifically sized to fit perfectly in the custom crystal case. Please note that not all of the image will be visible as there is only a rectangular window. All the important pieces of the image: logo, face, background, etc. will be visible.

If you find a cover you like simply enlarge it, right click + save as and then print it. Cut around the edges and slip into your case. It should be a perfect fit!

Here is what it will look like in your case (the white edges will not be visible):

Gravity Rush

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Escape Plan

Rayman Origins

Super Stardust Delta

Army Corps of Hell

Modnation Racers Road Trip

Did I not cover a game you wanted? Let me know what you want in the comments below and I'll see what I can do.

If enough interest is shown in the covers I will work on transferring them to Vita backgrounds! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Cheers,
Jon

Far Cry 3's "Stranded", Free Content for Crossplay

Hello All,

Last night the new "Stranded" trailer for Far Cry 3 crept its way onto the internet. The trailer is chock-full of CGI and shows no actual gameplay but is the best trailer I've seen since the famous Dead Island trailer. I have high hopes for this game but as we all learned by that aforementioned Dead Island trailer, the final product may just be a shadow of its former glory.

Let's just say that September 4th is a long ways away.

On a side note:

It has been confirmed by Sony that Playstation Vita and PS3 games that share content such as Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 characters or Wipeout tracks will be offered "on both platforms for one promotional price". Here is how it works:
  • If you purchase Hustle Kings for PS Vita, you will get Hustle Kings on PS3 for free. If you already own Hustle Kings on PS3, you’ll be able to download the PS Vita version for free.
  • If you purchase WipEout 2048, you will be able to download WipEout 2048’s DLC packs, WipEout HD and HD Fury for free when they launch later this spring (if you already own the PS3 versions).
  • DLC purchased for the PS3 version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 can be used on the PS Vita version for free (and vice versa).
This is an excellent route for Sony to take with the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3 as the systems have the potential to be deeply intertwined.

First Edition Vita Launches, Video Blog #1

Hello All,

The Playstation Vita First Edition Bundle launches today in the United States. The bundle is priced at $349.99 and includes:
-Playstation Vita 3G/Wifi
-Special Edition Carrying Case
-4GB Memory Card
-Little Deviants PSVita Physical Game
-One free month of AT&T 250mb Data Plan
-Super Stardust Delta (upon renewal of data plan)

I personally will be waiting until the 22nd for when the basic Vita model launches. The 3G connectivity does not appeal to me but does not mean it isn't a worthwhile feature. There will be two tiers of service provided by AT&T: $14.99 for 250mb a month and $30 for 3GB. The 3G network will allow for asynchronous multiplayer games (leader-boards, time trials, turn based games) and use of normal online features such as the web browser, Twitter, and Facebook. Downloads will be capped at 20mb per download. There is no contract required and the service is renewed monthly. It will be interesting to see how the uses of 3G (and possibly 4G in the future) will change handheld gaming.

Those of you planning on purchasing a Vita either this week or next, I highly recommend you pick up your accessories and games sooner rather than later. I went to Gamestop today to pick up a few things and their Vita wall had been picked clean. I questioned the nice woman behind the counter about the bare wall and she said that they had already restocked the wall around lunch time. If you plan on picking up a 32GB or 16GB memory card I, once again, highly recommend calling your local store or ordering one online. It is better to be safe than sorry.

And so we get to my first video blog regarding Playstation Vita accessories. Feel free to watch the video for my opinions on digital vs retail, the memory cards, and protective cases.

Cheers,
Jon

2011: A Tribute to Games

Hello All,

I created this video right around Christmas 2011 as a sort of tribute to all of the great games that were released during the year. I personally thought that 2011 was one of the greatest years in gaming history. We saw amazing stories come to and end, new games break through the mounds of shovel-ware and become a house hold name, and the reboot of lost but not forgotten franchises. Here it is, 2011: A Tribute to Video Games.

There are two versions of the video, one with titles for every game and one without. This is the titled version.

70 of some of the best games of 2011.
200+ Clips.
One Awesome Year.

Cheers,
Jon
