PSN Store Overhaul Coming October 23rd

Hey Everyone,

On October 23rd (17th for PAL), the PlayStation Network Store will be completely redone. The biggest improvement, besides the updated user interface, is that games will be better organized and a revamped search feature.

The new search feature uses predictive text. Start typing in "Las" - and the search will provide options such as "Last of Us" or "Last Guardian". The search feature will also support abbreviations such as CoD, for Call of Duty, and ME, for Mass Effect. Don't quite know how to spell "Ragnarok Odyssey"? Don't worry, the search feature now supports misspellings. "Ragnrock Odisea" Should provide you with the same results.

Walmart In-Store Preorders for Wii U Deluxe Begin Sunday 10/14

It is no secret that the Wii U has been sold out almost everywhere since the close of the first weeks preorders. However, Walmart will begin offering its first batch of in-store preorders this Sunday. Up until this point, Walmart only offered online preorders. $5 + 10% (or roughly $40) is required. Walmart will even be opening their doors at midnight for the console's release.

Wii U Preorders Selling Out Fast

Hello Everyone,

If you are interested in picking up a Wii U at launch, act fast. Almost every retailer has sold out of the Deluxe model and only Gamestop is now offering the Basic (online only). If you are interested in the Deluxe model, Walmart is offering a bundle for $459 which includes the Deluxe, a game, and a pro-controller (online only).

Hopefully Nintendo is able to provide retailers with more stock before the system's launch.

PSA: Little Big Planet Vita Out Now

Little Big Planet Vita was supposed to release on September 25th. However, Sony has officially stated that all stores with current inventory can begin selling copies of the game. If you are interested in picking up LBP, give your local store a call and see if they have any in stock. The game has yet to been made available on PSN and the community features have not been turned on, but Sony is looking to do so shortly.

Valve Looking To Enter Hardware

It was recently rumored that Valve would be looking to enter the hardware business with a "Steam Box". The rumor was quickly shut down as Valve classified the leaked images as simple prototypes for the upcoming "Big Picture Mode".

A recent job posting by Valve seems to suggest otherwise. The listing for an 'Industrial Designer' read,

"Valve is traditionally a software company. Open platforms like the PC and Mac are important to us, as they enable us and our partners to have a robust and direct relationship with consumers. We're frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we're jumping in. Even basic input, they keyboard and mouse, haven't really changed in any meaningful way over the years. PSOne Support for Vita Coming with Firmware 1.8

PSOne support is coming to the PlayStation Vita this summer with firmware update 1.8. There is not set date, but it is coming. The bad news is that not all PSOne games will work from the get go. Just like minis, support for each game will be rolled out little by little.

I am glad that PSOne games are finally making their way to the Vita. I have a whole collection of games that I have been waiting to play on the Vita. How do you feel about this, great news or a little to late?

Sony Acquires Gaikai, For Real This Time

It has been rumored since E3 that Sony would be acquiring cloud gaming company Gaikai. I am pleased to announce that the deal has been finalized; Sony will be purchasing Gaikai for $380 million. In a recent posting on the Playstation Blog, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was confirmed to be coming to the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3 this fall. The two systems will feature cross-play capabilities, which allow for the transferring of saves from one device to the other. I am glad to see that Sony is working to make the Vita a true piece of companion hardware for the PS3, although it will cost a little extra cash. I have still have two Sly games to work through before picking up the fourth, but if they are anything like the first, I have three great games to look forward to.

How To: Play iPods with A40 Wireless and Over XBL Chat

Hello Everyone,

First off, I would like to apologize for my recent absence but I am back and ready to bring you tons of new content.

It has been a personal gripe of mine that Astro threw out MP3 player compatibility with their A40 Wireless System. I scrounged the internet and found no answers about how to use the headset with music in conjunction to game audio. After a bit of tinkering, I finally figured out how to get it working. However, this answer also provides the ability to play the audio you're listening to over XBL and PSN. I wanted to put out a quick tutorial for those of you experiencing the same problems as myself but, please be respectful of the others you're gaming with and disable voice chat if you will be playing music using this method. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

Black Ops 2 Details

The first trailer for Black Ops 2 made its way onto the web last night and we already have our first slew of details. If you missed the reveal, check it out! There is quite a bit of exciting information for Call of Duty fans and those skeptical of the copy and paste technique they have been using for quite a while. Black Ops 2 will be the first Call of Duty game to offer alternative endings, Strike Force mode aims to add re-playability to the single player campaign, and Zombies will be returning! Black Ops 2 Reveal

The reveal trailer for Black Ops 2 has made its way onto the internet. Just from the still image, it seems that Black Ops 2 will take place in the near future and the city seems to be in America. Through another image (which can be seen below) the city is confirmed to be Los Angeles. Why the movie was labeled "French" is up for debate. The game seems to be taking a giant step with Black Ops 2. It appears that advanced technology and machinery will be playing a very large role in the combat. Only time will tell if the classic Call of Duty feel will remain or if Black Ops 2 will bring forth new mechanics that change the series like the original Modern Warfare had.

I had picked up the original Prototype on release day but after beating the game, I traded it in. It is not that I didn't like Prototype, I mean its pretty much Grand Theft Auto with super powers but that also means that I cant help but compare it to the amazing inFAMOUS series. I was excited to pick up the sequel to if it made improvements from the first game and I have to say, it was much better.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale coming Holiday 2012

Rumors have been circling for weeks, if not months, about Sony's upcoming take on the classic Smash Brothers series. The game, titled Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale (PASBR? PBR? They should have a better acronym), is set to launch Holiday of this year and contains some of the iconic Playstation characters. The only confirmed characters so far are as follows: Fat Princess, Parappa the Rapper, Sly Cooper, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, and Kratos. There will be plenty more first party fighters along with a few third party as well when the game finally launches. There will also be full four player splitscreen along with online battles and a story mode.

PSVita Gets Skype and PS+ May Preview

Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to announce that Skype will be releasing today on the Playstation Store! Just like all versions of Skype, it will be available for free on both the Wifi and 3G models. The app contains video and voice calling along with the ability to call landlines, if you feel like paying. The app will also run in background mode, allowing you to play your favorite games while waiting for a Skype call. While Skype may not be that killer app, its nice to finally have the video chat application available to download.
